What Leeds Advocacy does
LEEDS ADVOCACY supports people with learning disabilities by offering various advocacy services, based on a series of Corporate Statements.
We want to:
help people with learning disabilities take control over their own lives;
promote, develop and provide advocacy for people with learning disabilities who live in Leeds;
combat stigmatisation and victimisation of people with learning disabilities; and
be recognised as the best provider of independent advocacy services in Leeds.
The way we want to work:
We will promote, develop and provide advocacy for people with learning disabilities who live in Leeds.
We will focus work around the needs, wants or aspirations of the individual. We will not create or foster a stereotyped point of view of people with learning disabilities.
We will develop high professional standards for our services.
Leeds Advocacy supports:
Self Advocacy: 'speaking up for yourself'
Group Advocacy: 'speaking up together'
Citizen Advocacy: 'speaking up with someone else'
Sessional Advocacy: 'speaking up with a paid or volunteer worker for specific issue/s.
